Maria takes inspiration from her experience of the landscape and memory. Her Italian heritage is reflected in the vibrancy and colour palette of her work. Her thinking is informed by a fascination with colour relationships and the painting surface, leading her to create expressive paintings full of movement and light. She enjoys using a variety of painterly mediums stating that: “the needs of a painting dictate the direction of the materials”.
Maria followed up her lifelong interest in the Arts when she had a break from teaching in 2013 and undertook a BA Fine Arts at the University of Greenwich followed by an MA Fine Art at the University of the Creative Arts.
An active participant in a variety of art projects and exhibitions, Maria works from her art studio in Speldhurst, Kent and will take commissions.
